Hong Lim Food Centre, Singapore

Hong Lim Food Centre - Singapore

What do you think will be the Singaporean favorite pastime? Especially in the morning. Well, at least for me, it will be having a cup of coffee (many varieties of kopi can be found here) with delicious local fare while sitting down at alfresco hawker center, if possible in those older ones as there would be many varieties of delicious food sold since olden days and has been passed down from one generation to another. One of the favorites hawker center will be Hong Lim Food Center.

High Street Tai Wah Pork Noodle

"Built in 1978, Hong Lim Market and Food Centre was one of the first proper hawker centres in the Chinatown area (both the more well-known Amoy Street and Maxwell Food Centres nearby came later). After a major facelift in May 2011, which improved its ventilation and increased the seating capacity, it now hosts over 100 cooked food stalls which mainly serve the masses of CBD office workers during lunch hours." - source: Timeout.com

Lucky me that I just work nearby the area. Although food is provided in my Cafeteria for free, it doesn't stop me to browse around the area to have great food. It's either lunch time or right after work ended. I just can't resist the deliciousness of the food provided.

In the afternoon, despite hot weather and crowded area, you can see people queuing for those good food just like a dragon. Empty table will be chopped using tissue paper, to signify that the place is occupied (while the person who is going to sit is queuing for their food and drink).

So, if you come over Singapore and would like to taste real and delicious local dishes, please visit this humble hawker centre. You'll be perspiring though, but tell you, you will never regret!!! So, have a nice weekend everyone!!!
